is in readiness for this year’s exciting 41st annual Eastern District Basketball
and Volleyball Tournament scheduled for Saturday, April 5 in Douglas, Mass.
Group 3 “Rev. Edmund Mochak” of Douglas, Mass. will be this year’s hosts. The
tournament will be staged at Douglas Memorial High School, Douglas Middle School
and Douglas Municipal Center Gymnasium. The scenic community of Douglas
anticipates providing a traditional New England Sokol welcome to all tournament
participants. A continental breakfast will be available from 7:30 to 9a.m. at
the Douglas Middle School. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 8 a.m. with
games starting promptly at 8:30
a.m.
All teams are expected to be in full uniform. Non-competitors are welcome to
enjoy the continental breakfast at no charge. Cost of the afternoon meal will be
$7.00 for guests. Tickets must be purchased in advance as they will not be sold
at the door. The entry fee for all participating teams will be $175.00 per team.
Checks should be made payable to SCS Group 3 and are due along with the team
roster by March 17. The deadline will be strictly adhered to in order to
finalize all the details of the tournament. Checks and rosters should be sent

Directions to Douglas Middle School:
From
95: Take 95 North to 395 North. Once in Massachusetts, take Exit
2(Douglas-Webster). At the end of the ramp, take a right onto Route 16. Follow
for about seven(7) miles to the center of Douglas. The Slovak Catholic Sokol
Hall is located on the right. Continue on Route 16 for another
0.5
miles and the Douglas Middle School entrance is on the right. Follow the
driveway all the way to the top, where the flagpole is located for the entrance
to the gymnasium. The school is not visible from the road.
From
84: Take 84 East to I-90 East(Mass. Pike). Take Exit 10A
(Worcester/Providence - Route 146). Take 146 South to Route 16 -
Douglas/Uxbridge Exit (no number). At the end of the ramp, take a right. Follow
for two(2) miles and school driveway will be on the left. These directions will
take you past the Econo Lodge if that is your choice of hotels.
Group
3 looks forward to welcoming our Brother and Sister Sokols and Sokolky for what
is shaping up to be another exciting tournament in the best traditions of Sokol
good sportsmanship and camaraderie. We hope to welcome teams from all the Groups
belonging to the Eastern District, namely:
